December 2011 - Skyhawk Jet for Fleet Air Arm Museum
The ex-NZ Skyhawk jet, currently stored in New Zealand but which has
been earmarked for display at Australia's Fleet Air Arm Museum at
Nowra, NSW, is expected to arrive in the first half of 2012. Details.
November 2011 - Life Memberships Created
The Fleet Air Arm Association has awarded life memberships to seven
members who over many years have provided dedicated service to the
Association. The awards were made at the annual Federal Council meeting
in October. Details.
June 2011 - 24 MH-60R Seahawk 'Romeo' naval combat helicopters
project
The Fleet Air Arm will acquire 24 MH-60R Seahawk 'Romeo' helicopters so
it can simultaneously support at least eight warships with a combat
helicopter - including the Anzac Class frigates and the new air warfare
destroyers. The cost will be more than $3 billion. Details.
February 2011 - Launch of new helicopter platform ship
The hull of the first of two Australian amphibious ships (called LHD,
or helicopter landing docks) has been launched in Spain, heralding a
new era of naval aviation and amphibious operations. Details.
FAA Wall of Service: Interest continues in the Wall of
Service established outside the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Nowra. The
names of more than 750 ex-Fleet Air Arm members are now displayed on
the wall. Details.
