The Fleet Air Arm Association periodically awards medallions to the officers and sailors of the Fleet Air Arm who achieve the highest marks in their technical training.

Three categories have been recognised:

  • the air engineering course;
  • the advanced technical training course; and
  • basic aircrewman course.

On 29 April 2010, the President of the Association, CDRE David Farthing DSC RAN (Rtd) presented the FAAAA medallions for 2008 to:

  • LEUT Tristan Colclough, Aeronautical Engineering Officer Application Course;
  • CPOATA Christopher Pickering, CPOAT Advanced Technical Training Course; and
  • LSA Carley Mercer, Aircrewmen Basic Rotary Course.

Due to an administrative oversight, the award for the 2007 CPOAT Advanced Technical Training Course was not presented in that year. This was presented to CPOATA Trevor Johnstone.

The President also presented a framed print of CVS 21 HMAS Melbourne to CDRE A. Dalton, Commander Fleet Air, for hanging in the new Fleet Air Arm Headquarters Building.

The FAAAA congratulates the winners and wishes them well in their future flying careers.
