21 December 2009

A Fleet Air Arm memorial plaque was dedicated at the Queensland Air Museum at Caloundra, Queensland, on 19 December 2009, to mark the service of all RAN Fleet Air Arm members, particularly those who have lost their life in the service of Australia.

About 47 FAAAA members and their spouses, and around 20 Museum staff and families attended the dedication which took place under the stewardship of the Queensland Division of the Fleet Air Arm Association.

The invited guest list included the Association's national vice-president Peter Welsh, the member for Fisher, Peter Slipper, Commodore Geoff Morton, Commander Geoff Booker, the Director of the Museum, Cliff Robinson, and Caloundra RSL President, Barry Johnson OAM. All were welcome by the Association's Queensland Division President, Barry Lister.

The event was covered by TV news teams from channels 7 and 9. After the service, the Meals on Wheels organisation catered with some fine 'finger' food in a marquee erected behind the Museum.
