Dakota aircraft of the RAN

Douglas Dakota aircraft flying over the Naval Air Station HMAS Albatross

Four RAAF Dakota aircraft were transferred to the RAN - one in 1949, one in 1950 and two in 1968.

Two were converted to provide training for Firefly, Gannet and Sea Venom crews.

In the 1970s, two of the aircraft were sold, one Dakota went to the Naval Air Museum at Nowra and one to the RAN Historic Flight.
