ESO Collaborative Initiative Underway
The Minister for Veterans’ Affairs statement to Parliament on 14 August 2017 stated, inter alia, ‘[that] …we best honour the diggers of the First World War by supporting the service men and women, the veterans and the families of today. It is important that all Australians understand the unique nature of service.’
The Minister went on to issue a challenge to the Veterans community to not only respond to what he had said, but to do so ‘with a single voice’.
Following considerable input from most Alliance of Defence Service Organisations (ADSO) members, a final response to Minister’s challenge was sent to him in mid September 2017. His Chief of Staff reacted almost immediately, calling to acknowledge its receipt and thanking all involved for the effort involved in responding.
That response, a copy of which is attached here, was crafted by David Jamison but signed off in the spirit of a single voice by RSL’s National President, Robert Dick, and AVM Brent Espeland on behalf of the core National leadership group that makes up the ESORT Roundtable, including most members of ADSO and those organisations involved in the National ESO Collaboration initiative.
It is well worth a read as it sets out the priorities of the (majority) of ex-Service organisations and gives a good insight of the progress made in this important initiative.
