History of the Aircraft:

Delivered: 08 May 1956.
Side Numbers:  435/B, 314/Y, 434, 313
History:  725 Sqdn.  Crashed fatal 15/10/59. Aircraft failed to maintain height on single engine landing at RANAS Nowra. Crashed and caught fire. ASLT(P) Leon Anthony Mauritz RAN suffered critical injuries and subsequently died on 28 December 1959.  
Disposal:   Aircraft destroyed in crash. 

Below: Gannet WN458 shortly after the accident.  ASLT L.A Mauritz RAN was the only occupant and was critically injured.  The aircraft reportedly failed to maintain height on a single engine landing and struck trees near RANAS Nowra on 15 Oct 1959. SBLT Mauritz subsequently died on 28 December of that year. (RAN image via FAA museum).
