Memorial to RNAS Anthorn (HMS Nuthatch) to be erected

The FAAAA recently (June 17) received the following email from LCDR Harry Parker, RN, regarding HMS Nuthatch.

You may well know of the following notable Test/Ferry pilots who served at RNAS Anthorn:

“Hoagy” Carmichael DSO (Cdr RN), “Pug” Mather, (Capt RN), “Spiv” Leahy CBE DSC (Capt RN), “Pancho” Brandt MBE DFC (Cdr RNR), Guy Beange DSC (Cdr RAN, one time FAAOAA president)If not, a quick “Google” will soon show some stories .

The Anthorn Community Association intends to install a memorial to the Royal Naval Air Station (HMS Nuthatch), personnel who served here and to assemble an archive of memorabilia, photos etc.

Any help from “Down Under” would be appreciated.

Yours Aye,

Harry Parker (LtCdr RN Rtd) (
Member FAAOA-UK)
