I was advised yesterday by John’s partner that he died on Saturday 8th March 2025. His health had been failing for some time, the reason for him not continuing his membership.
Briefly John, the name by which he was known, was born 13 September 1938 at Tumby Bay SA. Named Edmond John Clifford Bannister he joined the Navy 26 May 1958 o/n R54328 as a Recruit LB and became an REM(air) serving at Albatross and onboard Melbourne. He reached the rank of CEAC before paying off 25 May 1967. On leaving the Navy John worked for Hills Industries television division in Adelaide.
