The (Hobart) MERCURY web-site has reported the death of Ivan John CARMICHAEL-BEAR, who passed away on 01FEB18. The funeral service was held on Thursday 8th February in St Georges Church of England, Battery Point, Hobart.
Ivan (Teddy) Bear was known to many “fixed-wingers” as an Observer in Sea Venom fighters and as Senior Observer 805 Squadron. He was an instructor at the RAN Observer School in 1956, and was the Senior Observer of 817 Squadron on Commissioning with Wessex helicopters in July 1963. Later, he served as Naval Officer In Command Tasmania. He was pre-deceased by his wife Lorraine.
