Vale Winston Neil (Fish) Ferguson
Neil joined the Royal Australian Navy on 10 January 1959 and completed 12 years’ service on 09 January 1971. Neil attained the rank of Leading Airman Mechanic Aircraft Engines (LAM/AE). Neil’s service included :
Shore establishments HMAS Cerberus and HMAS Albatross
Ships HMAS Melbourne and HMAS Stalwart
Squadrons 724 , 805, 816 (B Flight)
After leaving the Navy, “Fish” worked for Wesfarmers in Perth, then later for the West Australian Fire Brigade.
In the Fire Brigade he was reunited with some of his ex-navy mates.
Later he moved down to Denmark in WA’s Southwest to retire and reflect on all the luck he had experienced in his life.
In 2022, “Fish” and his wife Lin moved up to Kallaroo in Perth where he was a regular attendee at the Fleet Air Arm Association (W.A. Division) meetings.
We were saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Neil who will be dearly missed by Lin, his family, friends, and shipmates.
