LEITH WARREN GARDINER. 6th December1973 – 21st October 2024.
Leith joined at HMAS Nirimba qualifying as an Electrical Technical Systems rating after a four year apprenticeship. He served at HMAS Stirling, and on His Majesty’s Ships Derwent, and Canberra, as well as being posted to Santiago and Norfolk (Virginia) in the USA. He returned to Australia to be posted to HMAS Harman in Canberra, ACT.
Later back at sea, he served on HMAS Sydney 3, before returning to Harman from where he paid off after 11 years of Service, reaching the rank of Leading Seaman ETS.
Leith worked in civilian life involved with Aerial Surveying, before eventually joining Thales, sub-contracting back to Navy maintenance on submarines.
Leith was the son of Shirley and Owen Gardiner (ex L.A.S.E.) and was an Associate Member of the W.A. Division
