We received advice that Dean Gedling passed away on 22 December 2020 at Bradbury, NSW, aged 73.  He leaves a wife Denise, two daughters Carolyn and Allison, and two grandchildren.

Dean “Dino” was born on 3 July 1947 and joined the RAN from South Australia, aged 17. He served aboard HM Ships Albatross, Penguin, Harman and Melbourne.

During his time on Melbourne he travelled to many SE Asian countries including the Phillipines, Thailand, Singapore and Japan.

After his service with the RAN, Dean spent many years at TAFE NSW as a photographer in the production of training films, before having a career change to become a private investigator.  He was a dedicated family man, loyal supporter of many a friend and colleague, and an avid reader and historical buff.

Dean played a role in the HMAS Melbourne Association for several years and was also a member of the FAA Association of Australia (NSW Branch).
