We have been advised by his wife that Ron Hobba Crossed the Bar on 21 May 2021 after a long battle with cancer.
Ron joined the Navy in 1964 as an adult entry recruit (ON R62865) and served 9 years before paying off as a POEAC. Prior to joining he was in the SA Police Force.
Ron did “ord” training on board HMAS Sydney when first used in its role as a troop transport in 1964 for the Indonesian confrontation, then again with the 725 Wessex detachment for runs to Vietnam. He also had posting to 851 and 816 with Trackers. On leaving the Navy he moved to Queensland and worked with Telstra investigating fraud.
