Sad to pass on the news that Dick Parry, an old school mate from a small dairy farm community of Kilburnie on the Darling Downs in Queensland, passed away on 21 Nov 22 after a long illness.

I for a time was his schoolmate during world war two before going to live in Brisbane to be near my father was stationed during that war.
Dick joined the Navy in 1951 , served at Cereberus, Nowra and Vengenance before paying off in 1957.

Many a Pom PO knew him well, for Dick always disliked those who came out to teach us to be aircraft handlers.

After the Navy he brought a block of land in Oakey not far for his original birthplace.

I contacted him after leaving the Navy and he attended many a handers reunion, and the funny thing he would always get a place at the bar to get a beer .

His wife pre-deceased him and he spent his last days in a hospice in Oakey.

I have lost a great mate and very longtime friend.
