Past Member Bob Scobie, Strathalbyn, has crossed The Bar on the 12th of May 2025 after a long battle with dementia, aged 96.
Bob joined the Navy on 22 February 1949 at the age of 18. He initially tried to qualify as an Electrical Sailor but it wasn’t for him, and so transferred to become a Cook. He served mostly on aircraft carriers, doing duty on all three of them.
He discharged from the Navy in February 1961, after completing his engagement. Details of his post-Navy life are not known.
Bob’s funeral Service will be held at Kleemann Funerals, 1 Morphett Street, Mt Braker on Friday 13th of June at 1400.
