John Richard Wilson was born in Warwick on 6 May 1938 and joined the Navy 21 years later, having been a truck driver in his early working life. Having completed his recruit training at HMAS Cerberus, he was posted to Albatross at the end of 1958 to begin his career as an Aircraft Handler, completing ten years of service before he discharged in 1968 at the rank of POAH.
John passed away on 18 February 2025, following complications after hip surgery. He has requested that his ashes be scattered at sea from a Navy ship.
