We have been advised of the death of Warren Bruce Hamlyn on 08 March 2024. He was 83.
Warren was born in Waverley on 2nd July 1940 and joined the RAN as a Supplementary List Midshipman in February of 1963. After 4 months of basic training at HMAS Cerberus he was loaned to No.70 Basic Observers’ Course (Royal Navy) which was in those days held in Malta.
Following his return to Australia Warren was posted to HMAS Albatross for 724 Squadron (Gannets) and subsequently 816 Squadron. His record also notes he served as XO of Argent, but unfortunately is incomplete after that so we have no further details of his service.
